The confectionery industry produces some of the country’s best known brands but is facing a series of challenges.
These range from achieving the sugar reduction targets set out in the governments ‘Childhood obesity: a plan for action’, to the challenges of Brexit, with Euromonitor predicting that “Confectionery will be the worst hit UK food sector after Brexit”.
With these challenges comes a need to ensure that the industry has the right skills in place both now and in the future. At Reaseheath College we have a wealth of experience in developing and delivering skills programmes that met the needs of the food industry and are keen to learn how we can work with the confectionery sector to ensure the unique science and processing skills are not lost.
We understand that the first step is to listen to what industry needs in terms of core skills and how best to deliver these. With this in mind, we are hosting a roundtable discussion on Thursday 19th April, to explore how we can begin the first steps of this journey.
This FREE event will be chaired by Andy Baxendale, The Sweet Consultant.
The day will run from 10am until 3pm and will consist of:
A series of roundtable discussions based around a skills needs theme
A tour of the Reaseheath Food Centre facilities
Lunch will be provided
